Activities to Resume in Fall 2020 Tailored to each Program of Study

The Université de Moncton is ready to take up the challenge of offering instruction during a pandemic and remains firmly committed to providing an excellent education and a vibrant, human student experience to all its students, no matter which mode of instruction is used in their program of study.

“Our goal is to offer a high-quality education and at the same time ensure the safety of all members of the university community when classes resume in September 2020,” said interim President and Vice-Chancellor Jacques Paul Couturier. “In order to do so, we’ve chosen an approach that employs diversified modes of instruction depending on the particular nature of each program of study and campus.”

The main highlights for the fall 2020 session are as follows:

  • All programs of study at the Université de Moncton will be offered in the fall 2020 session.
  • Certain programs with a practical component will require the physical presence of their students on campus.
  • Other programs will be offered through distance learning or in person, depending on the year of studies or the home campus.
  • In the coming days, students enrolled will be notified directly about the procedures for continuing their studies (distance learning or in-person classes). The modes of instruction for each group of programs on the Edmundston, Moncton and Shippagan campuses will be presented online.
  • All courses offered will continue to meet high standards of instruction, allowing students to reach their full potential.
  • Graduate and post-graduate students will be able to continue their studies via distance learning or in person based on the nature of the requirements of their program.

Preparations for the fall 2020 session include, among other considerations, a major program of teaching workshops for faculty members and the development of a plan to provide remote services that support success and othere student services. Specific measures will be established for students nearing the end of their program or their work placement, who are newly admitted or who have anxiety, a handicap or technological or material constraints.

A webpage has been created to inform students about back to class 2020. Specifically, it hosts information on the mode of instruction for each program of studies on each campus, along with general information and details of back-to-class activities planned for each campus.

Decisions on the winter 2021 session will be made in the fall and based on the evolution of the COVID-19 situation. “We will make the best choices to protect the health and safety of all members of the university community. They are our absolute priority,” said Mr. Couturier in conclusion.
