An Embrun resident, Marika Gagnon, attends the école secondaire catholique d’Embrun. The 5′6″ forward was a member of the junior Napean Wildcats last season. She registered three goals and 10 assists for 13 points in 34 games. She will pursue a bachelor of arts degree with a major in psychology and a minor in marketing.

A Winnipeg, Manitoba athlete, Janelle Perrault is a River East Collegiate student. She played with the midget AAA Avros of Winnipeg. Standing at 5′9″, the forward and her team lost in the provincial finals of the Manitoba girls league for the last two seasons. Last season, she scored 14 times and added 27 assists for 41 points in 62 games. She will study social work.

Vanessa McKinnon lives in Garson, Ontario. She is a student at the Collège Notre-Dame and played last season with the Sudbury Lady Wolves midget AA. A forward, she registered 14 goals and 12 assists for 26 points. She measures 5′8″. She will pursue studies in nursing.

Emilie Comeau lives in Hearst, Ontario. The 5′4″ young defenceman played with the Sudbury Lady Wolves midget AA last season. She will study business administration (accounting).

Pénélope Ringuette is from Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska, New Brunswick. She did suit up with the NB midget AAA Western Zone Reds last season. The 5′2″ centreman was the top scorer of her team the last two years. She was named on the league’s first all-star team this year and had statistics of 12 goals and nine assists in 39 games. She will study social sciences (criminology).

“I look forward to having these players in the line-up as they should have an impact on our program,” stated coach Marc-André Côté. “The good mixture of rookies and veterans should bring an Atlantic University Sport championship in the coming years. Pénéloppe Ringuette is an intense player who played well in midget AAA this season and she can produce on the ice. Her work ethic is strong. As for Janelle Perrault, she has physical presence on the ice, good speed and is capable of scoring or creating opportunities. A particularly good shooter, Stéphanie Péladeau is impressive on the ice and is a hard worker. She makes her first pass well. An intense player, Vanessa McKinnon also makes her presence felt on the ice and her play is a continual progression. Marika Gagnon has very good skills. She creates scoring opportunities with a good vision and a great attitude. A fast skater, Émilie Comeau has great hockey sense. She plays with intensity and enjoys shooting on the net.”
