The Université de Moncton women’s soccer coach, Mehyar Zekaroui announces that Moncton’s Amy Green has signed her U SPORTS letter of intention to join his team for the 2020-2021 Atlantic University Sport season.

The L’Odyssée Grade 12 student is looking forward to her first university soccer season. “To play with the Aigles Bleues is a dream of mine since I was younger,” stated the 17-year-old athlete. “I was a ball retriever at some games when I played minor soccer and I said to myself one day I will play for that team.”

Amy Green was a member of the Codiac AAA U17 last year. She plays as a central defenceman. Measuring 5 feet 8 inches, she has been playing the sport for 13 years. “Soccer is a passion for me since I was very young,” she added. “Several of my friends played, and I wanted to play. I enjoy team sports; they are like a big family. I will need a daily commitment to play at the university level. I wish to become a better player and a better person. I need to adapt to this team environment, and with different good players. From my position, I can see the play better and pass the ball. My speed on the field needs work.”

“Amy has great potential,” stated Mehyar Zekaroui. “She has always had an impact on all the teams she played with. Her mental and physical qualities, her calm and her leadership will be welcomed on the team. I have known Amy since she was 12 years old and I have been able to observe her progression over the years. She will represent the values of our program well.”

She will pursue business administration studies. She also plays ringette, hockey, volleyball and ultimate frisbee.
