Men's Hockey: Denis Toner Will Play with the Aigles Bleus

Another member of the Toner family will wear the Aigles Bleus jersey. The Université de Moncton head coach, Judes Vallée, announced that Saint-André’s defencemen, Denis Toner, 20 years old, signed his U SPORTS letter of intention to suit up with his team for the next Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey season.

Toner has been playing since December with the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He began the season in the Maritime Junior Hockey League with the Grand Falls Rapids. The defenceman measures 5′9″ and weighs 163 pounds. With the Mooseheads this season, he played 19 games where he cumulated five goals and two assists, for seven points. He played 17 games with the Rapides with a record of one goal and 11 assists, for 12 points. He wore the Mooseheads jersey in 2018-2019 with a record of 58gp, 1g-15a=16 points and +36. In 2017-2018 and 2016-2017, he played with the Woodstock Slammers junior A team. Terry Toner (1991-1995) and Scott Toner (2002-2007) have also worn the Bleu et Or jersey.

“Denis Toner is an addition to our defensive brigade,” stated coach Judes Vallée. “He has junior experience and will be a nice addition to our team. I am delighted to see the Toner tradition will continue with our team.”
