Women’s Volleyball: Aigles Bleues host Tigers for two games

In Atlantic University Sport women’s volleyball, the playoffs are just about off the radar for the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (4-11= 8 points, 5th position), but they are not ready to abandon yet as they prepare for their last two regular-season home games this weekend.

The Dalhousie University Tigers have not lost a game this season in 15 outings. They are also ranked first in Canada.

The Friday meet is at 7 p.m. at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud gymnasium and Saturday’s game will take places at 4 p.m. at the same place.

“We have quite a challenge in front of us,” stated Moncton coach Monette Boudreau-Carroll. “We work hard in practices. Dalhousie has a strong team with two or three dominant players. We can play with them if we play our game. We will continue our learning curve and hope to get missing elements. We are working on our confidence and we will find solutions this summer.”

Moncton is six points behind the Acadia University Axewomen (7-6=14 points), who stand in the fourth and final qualification spot with five games left to play.

Players who have played four or five seasons with the Aigles will be honoured on Saturday prior to the first whistle.
