Université de Moncton will have 23 athletes competing in 45 events at the annual McGill University Track and Field Challenge on Friday and Saturday, in Montreal.

Moncton’s track and field coach, Steve LeBlanc, takes advantage of this meet to evaluate his charges against some of the top university athletes in Canada. The results give him an idea of what to expect at the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) championship, on February 21 and 22.

“Our goal is to have at least a dozen athletes finish top 8,” LeBlanc said. “We have good possibilities of establishing Université de Moncton records in a number of events such as the 60 m, 60 mh, 4X200 m relay, pole vault and women and men’s shot put. This meet is an important step in our training for the upcoming AUS championship and for the years to come. The first-year athletes get the opportunity to see what level they need to attain over the next few years.”

The Aigles Bleues and Aigles Bleus attending the challenge are Véronique Omalosanga, Hillary MacLean, Joëlle Léger, Sharon Ngongo, Martine Haché, Caroline Gagnon, Gedeline Pitre, Lisa Richard, Isabelle Boudreau, Natalie Fleming, Rachelle Haché, Constance Gilman, Mia Schofield, Kyla Hughes, Steve Richard, Philippe Gélinas, Samuel Robichaud, Emmanuel Zangio, Maxime Alarich, Samuel Farag, Monty Christian Kpan, Jonathan Roy and Samuel Bourque.
