UNI Coopération financière is creating a fund to support student initiatives on the three campuses with a major donation of $750,000 to the Université de Moncton’s Evolution Major Fundraising Campaign.

The announcement was made today at the Université de Moncton, Shippagan campus, in the presence of Robert Moreau, CEO of UNI Coopération financière; Camille Thériault, Co-Chair of the Evolution Major Fundraising Campaign; Jacques Paul Couturier, interim President and Vice-Chancellor of the Université de Moncton; and Michelle Kearney, President of the Association étudiante de l’Université de Moncton on the Shippagan campus.

The donation from UNI will be made over a ten-year period and will be used for individual or joint student projects that encourage the acquisition of a rich learning experience or that enhance student life.

“It’s because UNI’s 155,000 members have confidence in us that we have the means to help coming generations. The creation of this $750,000 UNI fund for student initiatives is on top of the $40,000 that we give each year to the various faculties and as scholarships. This means that in 10 years we’ll be donating over $1 million to support the greatest resource in the province: our young people,” said the CEO of UNI Coopération financière, Robert Moreau.

“The Université de Moncton is delighted with this generous support from UNI Coopération financière. With it we will be able to create, for students on all three campuses, conditions favorable to their engagement and to the development of their full potential throughout their academic journey,” added the interim President and Vice-Chancellor, Jacques Paul Couturier.

The Evolution Major Fundraising Campaign was established to enrich the student experience and enhance excellence in research and innovation at the Université de Moncton. The funds received will allow the Université to implement transformative projects beneficial to its students, to Acadian society and to society in general. Over $42 million of the campaign objective of $50 million has already been raised. The Campaign will close on June 19, 2020, on the anniversary of the foundation of the Université de Moncton.
