Men’s Hockey: Aigles Bleus to Host X-Men and Tigers

In Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey action, the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (6-5-3=15 points, 4th position) play their last two home games of the first semester this weekend at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

Moncton will host two lower ranked teams, the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men (6-6-2=14 points, 5th position) on Friday and the Dalhousie University Tigers (3-9-2=8 points, 7th position) on Saturday. Both games at 7 p.m.

“Our team needs to bounce back from our last weekend’s loss as we play in front of our fans,” stated Moncton coach Judes Vallée. “We gave up a few rapid goals in our last game and we must do better. I need a full effort from the first whistle. The power play unit also needs to produce more, and we must protect our goaltender better with fewer shots on goal. We controlled the puck better during the last four games, and those are our starting points for the two weekend games. The small things must be done better.”

“Everything begins again on Friday with two important games,” added forward Maxime St-Cyr. “All teams are close in the standings, and a full effort following our loss is needed. We are scoring more goals because of more shots on goal and having more traffic in front of the net. Defensively, it is important to play well in front of our fans. We wish to end our home games on the right foot and earn as many points as possible.”

Wilson Forest and Alexi Thibaudeau will miss the games because of injuries.
