Head coach Monette Boudreau-Carroll has recruited two local Fuzion team players, Noémie Brideau and Emily Robichaud, who will join the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues in women’s volleyball for the next Atlantic University Sport season.

Emily Robichaud, from Dieppe and Noémie Brideau, from Moncton, are both grade 12 students and will pursue studies at the Moncton campus in September.

Robichaud measures 5 feet 6 inches and is a left power player. The 17 year old has been involved in the sport for five years. “I have been playing with these girls for a long time and that is one of the reasons I am still playing today,” Robichaud, a Mathieu-Martin student said. “I have developed friendships with these players over the years and I enjoy playing the sport with people who have the same passion as I have.”

The discharge of adrenalin after each play and point is something Robichaud enjoys living. “I am happy to be able to play with these players by my side. My strength on the court is my ability to manage the stress; that gives me a chance to perform better. I can block all noises and remain focused and play and attain my objectives. I am considered a bit small for this position and my biggest university calibre challenge will be to be as tall as my opposing players on the other side of the net.” Robichaud will study in biochemistry.

Noémie Brideau is an école L’Odyssée student. She stands at 5 feet 8 inches and plays power. She has been playing the sport for seven years. “I played two years with the Olympiennes,” she said. “I enjoy the sport and the competition. The challenges will be interesting and I wish to become a better player.”

Her sister Audrey and a cousin played the sport and she decided to try it out. “I got hooked right off the bat,” she added. “Playing a sport and studying are not always easy, but it can be done. You need to have very good time management. I am stable in the reception and I want to help the Aigles Bleues win games. I need to have better physical conditioning, quicker reaction in plays and become stronger, physically.” She will pursue studies in health sciences.

Both players will continue in the same coaching style with the Aigles.

Monette Boudreau-Carroll is also a high-performance coach with the Fuzion program. Both are looking forward to becoming Aigles players and want to be a part of the organization. “These two players should have an impact on our team,” stated coach Boudreau-Carroll. “They are determined and want to progress to help our team on the court.”
