Véronique Omalosanga and Jean-Luc Bastarache are Université de Moncton Athletes of the Week

Track and field athletes Véronique Omalosanga, of Moncton, New Brunswick, and Jean-Luc Bastarache, of Truro, Nova Scotia, were chosen as Physiotherapy Sportmed athletes of the week for the period from February 18 to 24, 2019 by the Université de Moncton Athletic Department.

Véronique Omalosanga competed in her first ever Atlantic University Sport (AUS) competition with the Aigles Bleues and won four bronze medals: in both the 60m and 300m races and in 4x200m and 4x400m relays. She established three Université de Moncton records and is classified 16th by U SPORTS in the 60m and 24th in the 300m. She is a health science student.

Jean-Luc Bastarache was named AUS field athlete of the year for his performances. He won two medals at the AUS Track and Field championships held on Friday and Saturday at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud. He won the gold in the heptathlon competition and the silver in the pole vault. He also established two AUS and two Université de Moncton records. He is ranked 5th in Canada and qualified for the U SPORTS track and field championships to be held in Manitoba. He is an electrical engineering student.
