Twenty-five Université de Moncton Athletes at Track and Field Championships

The Atlantic University Sport track and field championships will attract more than 210 athletes from nine universities (Acadia, Dalhousie, Memorial, St. Francis Xavier, Saint Mary’s, St. Thomas, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Moncton universities) on Friday and Saturday at the Stade Vance-Toner of the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud on the Moncton campus.

The Université de Moncton will be represented by 25 athletes. Coach Steve LeBlanc is looking forward to seeing a few of his athletes on the podium. “Our objective is to win at least 12 medals,” LeBlanc said. “I am looking for a third and fourth spot in final women and men standings, respectively. I hope that at least three athletes will qualify for the national championships and that five Université de Moncton records will be broken.”

The Aigles Bleus competing are Jean-Luc Bastarache, Nassim Bousmaha, Alain Doucet, Christian Haché, Samuel Robichaud, Jeremy Rolle, Brandon St-Cœur and Emmanuel Zangio. The Aigles Bleues competing are Myriam Cyr, Sophie Black, Karen Farag, Constance Gilman, Rachelle Haché, Kyla Hughes, Megan Kingston, Joëlle Léger, Jessika Lepage, Carol-Ann MacDonald, Sharon Ngongo, Véronique Omalosanga, Gedeline Pitre, Lisa Richard, Pascale Richard, December Sampson and Mia Schofield.

Relay teams will be composed of Lisa Richard, Myriam Cyr, Sophie Black and Carol-Ann MacDonald (4X800m); Gedeline Pitre, Sharon Ngongo, Joëlle Léger and Véronique Omalosanga (4X200m); Lisa Richard, Gedeline Pitre, Joëlle Léger and Véronique Omalosanga (4X400m); Emmanuel Zangio, Christian Haché, Jeremy Rolle and Nassim Bousmaha (4X800m); and Samuel Robichaud, Emmanuel Zangio, Jeremy Roille and Nassim Bousmaha (4X400m).

Competitions will be held from noon to 6:30 p.m. on Friday and from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. A banquet will follow in the evening.
