Hockey Aigles Bleus Looking for Third Spot

The third position in the standings is now in the mirror of the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey. The quest begins on Wednesday in Halifax where Moncton will play against the second position team, the Saint Mary’s University Huskies (16-7-1=33 points).

The Aigles Bleus (12-9-3=27 points, 3rd position) qualified for the playoffs last weekend. Moncton is 9-3 in its nest and 3-9 on the road.

“We have six games remaining in the regular schedule; we have gained assets, but we still have several issues we need to resolve,” coach Judes Vallée indicated. “We had difficulty with our performance on the ice, except in three of our last nine periods. We must focus better on our game and that is a nice challenge.’’

“They were up 3-0 in the first eight minutes of the game,” Vallée added. “We played well for 50 minutes. We need to come out stronger in the first period. The personal readiness is very important. We need to battle hard against Saint Mary’s because they also play well offensively and defensively in their own rink.”

Moncton will again play without the services of its top two scorers, Marc-Anthony Therrien and Maxime St-Cyr. Étienne Montpetit will be in nets.
