Aigles Bleues and Mounties Meet in Sackville

The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (5-7-1=11 points, 6th position) have lost their last two games and are looking for a good winning combination as they travel east to Sackville on Wednesday for a matchup with the Mount Allison University Mounties (3-8-0=6 points, 8th position) in an Atlantic University Sport (AUS) women’s hockey game.

The Aigles Bleus blanked the Mounties 1-0 on October 26 in their only matchup this season. The Mounties have lost their last two games also.

“We will play within our means,” Moncton coach Marc-André Côté said. “We need to play within our system and possibilities. Even if the Mounties are lower classified, they always give us a very challenging game. They play with intensity and are much more disciplined; the least penalized team in the league. It is never easy to play against them.”

In brief, Moncton has scored 24 goals and allowed 36 in 13 games this season. The Mounties are 16 and 36 in 11 games. Moncton’s Katryne Villeneuve is first in the AUS scoring race with 10 goals and five assists for 15 points, one more than Tommies Emily Oleksuk (5-9). Her 10 goals are tops in the league, even with Tommies Lauren Henman.
