MacDonald and Black at U SPORTS Championship

Two Université de Moncton athletes will be on the start line on Saturday at Queen’s University, in Kingston, for the U SPORTS cross-country championship.

Carol-Ann MacDonald, of Irishtown, and Sophie Black, of Dieppe, are the Aigles Bleues participating in the 8 km race of the championship. MacDonald took 5^th spot at the Atlantic University Sport championships. Black, a rookie, took the 30^th spot. Coach Jean-Marc Doiron is accompanying them.

“This will be a chance for Carol-Ann to measure her race following her 60^th spot last year,” Doiron said. “She will also see how she measures against the top runners in Canada. She had to take a leave from competition for a few months because of an injury. She came back strong and won the Moncton competition and was 5^th at the Atlantic University Sport race with a better race strategy. Sophie should finish top 50 in her first national competition. The two run well together and are very good race partners.”
