The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (5-3-2=12 points, 4th position) will meet the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers (4-4-0=8 points, 5th position) on Friday at 7 p.m. in an Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey game in Charlottetown.

The Judes Vallée troop has won two games in a row for the first time this season with a win over the University of New Brunswick on Tuesday evening. The coach is confident the team will continue in its winning ways. Moncton won 3-1 and 5-3 and lost 6-5 to the Panthers this season.

“The Panthers have been winning ever since they beat us,” Moncton coach Judes Vallée said. “We cannot fall in a trap. We won over the Reds, but we cannot think the other teams are not as strong and that the Panthers will be easy prey. We played an emotional game on Tuesday and we need to keep that energy and use it in a positive way. We are focused on the playoffs, and all the games are important at this stage. Our progress must continue. We need to reduce the number of shots on goal against us. An action plan is in place, and we must execute it in our zone. We are going to get the two standing points.”

Rookie Dieppe defencemen Alexandre Bernier is enjoying every minute of university hockey. “We need to keep our play simple and get the puck out of our zone as quickly as possible,” stated Bernier. “We are allowing many shots, but our goaltenders are doing an excellent job. We did lose in Charlottetown our last game and following our Tuesday evening win, we cannot go there overconfident. We must put our focus on the Panthers. They have a very good team. I am enjoying playing with the Aigles Bleus. I adore everything: university calibre and being able to play and study at the same time. Our team is doing well, and we have a very good environment.”

The game can be seen on AUStv.ca.
