Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (2-1-0=4 points, 3rd spot) travel to Charlottetown on Wednesday for an encounter with the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers (0-2-0=0 point, 7th spot) in an Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey game.

The team is hoping for a third win this season. They won their first game against the same Panthers (5-3), at the same rink.

“We cannot take them for granted. The Panthers have great players and we cannot fall prey,” stated Moncton coach Judes Vallée. “We must play with the same resolve we did last Friday.”

The coaching staff did put the players through training sessions on Monday and Tuesday to get ready for the game. “We hope to take advantage of our calibre play,” Vallée added. “The Panthers played in the United States this weekend, and I am not sure what effect that will have. We need to control our game plan and play better in our zone, as we did the last game. I am happy with the behaviour and work environment of the team. Winning sure changes several things. We must also play much better at the beginning of the game.”

Fifth year defencemen, Victor Beaulac, adds the team must play disciplined hockey against the Panthers. “The standing points against them are important at the end of the season and can determine a spot in the playoffs,” said Beaulac. “We must stay out of the penalty box, win our battles along the boards and spend time in their zone. This will mean fewer shots on our goaltender. We gave them too many the first game. We cannot take them for granted. We will keep our play simple and bring the puck to their net.”

Alexi Thibaudeau will be the goaltender. Joey Richard did begin to skate, but is still on the injured list as is rookie goaltender Étienne Montpetit. The game can be seen on AUStv.ca.
