With gratitude, the Université de Moncton paid tribute to its generous donors at an investiture and recognition ceremony at St. James Gate in Moncton, on Thursday, May 3, 2018.

At the ceremony, three organizations were invested into the Order of the Chancellor, with two of them achieving the highest rank. One of the organizations was present for the investiture. The Order of the Chancellor was established by the Board of Governors in 2004, to recognize associations, religious orders, businesses, foundations and municipalities that provide outstanding financial support to the Université de Moncton. The name of the Order reflects the role of the chancellor – a personal, visible and essential extension of the Université, symbolizing its purpose, spirit and unity.

As well, 28 people were invested into the Order of Regents, 8 of whom achieved a higher rank. Sixteen of these individuals were present for their investiture. The Order of Regents was established by the Board of Governors in 1994, to bring together and recognize individuals who provide significant financial contributions to the Université de Moncton. The name of the Order reflects the important founding role played by the members of the Office of Regents during the early years of the Université de Moncton. The Office of Regents was precursor to the current Board of Governors.

The vital role of donors

In total, nearly $2 million was donated to the Université de Moncton by individuals, organizations and businesses. These donations contribute to the growth of the Université and also provide outstanding support, particularly to students, enhancing the student experience.

During the ceremony, the co-chair of the Université de Moncton Evolution Fundraising Campaign, Bernard Lord, along with members of the campaign cabinet unveiled the new summit attained of $30 million.

“Our many donors have been exceptionally generous. Having reached this mark, we are closer to our target of $50 million,” stated Campaign co-chairs, Camille H. Thériault and Bernard Lord. “Cabinet members will continue to solicit donations in their respective region, and we encourage you to give generously. By making this gesture, you are choosing to be part of the evolution of Université de Moncton, which plays a leading role in the development of Acadian society and the society at large.”

The annual donor recognition and investiture ceremony celebrates the great generosity of donors and the engagement of organizations and individuals who contribute vital support to students, to offer them an unparalleled experience.
