Fifteen Athletes Nominated in Moncton Campus’s Annual Sports Awards Gala

The Université de Moncton Athletic Department, Moncton campus, will honour its 2017–2018 Atlantic University Sport season athletes at its annual awards Gala to be held on Wednesday, March 28th, at the Delta Beauséjour Hotel, in Moncton.

There are 15 athletes in nomination for the various awards to be presented during the evening following another season of competitions.

This year’s four nominees for the male athlete-of-the-year award are Alexandre Thériault, Dieppe, soccer; Vincent Deslauriers, Blainville, Québec, hockey; Jean-Luc Bastarache, Truro, Nova Scotia, track and field; and Bryan Thomas, Bathurst, cross-country.

The five nominees for the women’s athlete-of-the-year title are Carol-Ann MacDonald, Irishtown, cross-country; Pascale Doiron, Dieppe, volleyball; Katryne Villeneuve, Casselman, Ontario, hockey; Isabelle Morris, Miramichi, track and field; and Emilie Naugle, Shediac, soccer.

Vincent Deslauriers, a hockey player from Blainville, Québec, and Thomas Maillet, a soccer player from Moncton, are nominated for the men’s rookie-of-the-year title.

As for the women’s rookie of the year, the choice will be made between Nicole Jamieson, Fredericton, volleyball; Myriam Cyr, Wellington, Prince Edward Island, cross-country and track and field; Rachelle Haché, Miramichi, track and field; and Catherine Dupuis, Saint-Mathias-sur-Richelieu, Québec, soccer.

The President’s Award will be presented to an athlete, and the most valuable players of each team will also be honoured during the 2017–2018 season wrap-up. The Gala will also be the occasion to recognize the coach of the year and the AUS James Bayer Award recipient.
