Hockey Aigles Bleus begin AUS regular season play in Fredericton
“I look forward to my first university career game,” said Vallée. “We have been talking about this first game since the beginning of training camp, a month ago. We will step on the ice prepared. A month is not a lot of time to learn new systems. We are looking for progress in every game. Meeting the defending champions on their home ice will not be an easy task, but we are ready for the first face-off.”
Brandon Thibeau will be the starting goaltender for the Bleu et Or. Vallée also appreciates all the efforts of his coaching staff—Jean-François Damphousse, Ricky Jacob and Frédérick Roy—in getting the team ready.
Forward Thierry Comtois will begin his third season with the Aigles Bleus. “Many significant changes have been made to our structure and our plays, but the players will be ready,” Comtois stated. “We need time to learn these and adapt them to our play. We have practised a lot and we feel better every day. It is a constant learning curve.”
Comtois says all the players are excited at the start of the new season. “We all look forward to stepping on the ice for the game. It does not matter who we face, we all play them to win, even if they are the defending champions. The Aigles Bleus are looking for a playoff spot and the road begins Wednesday evening. We shall be competitive in every game and build a long-term program.”
Moncton will hold its home opener on Saturday as the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers will visit the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.
