Université de Moncton soccer teams will be hosting teams from Mount Alison University on Sunday in Atlantic University Sport soccer action at Stade Moncton Stadium at 1 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.

The Aigles Bleues (2-3-0=6 points, 7th position) and the Mounties (1-4-0=3 points, 8th position) will begin their game at 1 p.m. “The Mounties have only won one of six games and, on paper, we should do better,” stated Moncton coach Mehyar Zekaroui. But there are always surprise games in this league. We respect our opposition, our tasks and play our roles on the field. We should dominate and impose our style of play. We are looking for a win. Dominique LeBlanc will be the goaltender and Céleste and Julie Gaudet will be absent because of injuries. Other players will get their chance to play.”

Aigles Bleus (1-4-0=3 points, 9th position) and Mounties (0-5-0=0 point, 10th position) will tangle at 3:15 p.m. “Against Mount Allison, we will concentrate on our offensive play,” coach Florian Ntima Nsiemi said. “I believe we will have possession of the ball more often. This is our only game this weekend, but we cannot forget our defensive play. We can practise a bit longer and work on themes. Offensive players will be asked to step forward, like Héritier Masimengo and Cherif Mehadji, who both scored their first goal, as well as Félix Robichaud, Alban Akakpo, Maxime Barrier and Jean-Michel Dako, who are close to scoring.”

Player Alex Laperrière added, “we need points to qualify for the playoffs. The Mounties are also looking for points like us, so the intensity should be present. We have a good rivalry, and we know many players. We want to win and have a chance at the playoffs, no matter which team we face.”

Both games can be seen on AUStv.ca.
