Yves Bourgeois appointed dean of studies at Shippagan campus

Yves Bourgeois has been named dean of studies at the Shippagan campus of the Université de Moncton. The Board of Governors ratified the appointment at its meeting held on Saturday, June 10, 2017.

Mr. Bourgeois holds a Ph.D. in urban planning from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). He is director of the Centre for Innovation and Productivity and an adjunct professor of economics in the University of New Brunswick-Saint John’s (UNBSJ) business faculty where he earned a teaching excellence award in 2016.

His interests cover a wide interdisciplinary range in the areas of economic sciences, geography and public policy. He holds a number of research grants and has written a dozen peer-reviewed articles.

In community service, Professor Bourgeois was a member of the Partnership Grants Program Selection Committee of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, a member of the Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committee (Maritimes), and chair of the New Brunswick Advisory Committee on Rural and Urban Transportation Systems.

Mr. Bourgeois’ appointment takes effect July 1, 2017, for a regular term of five years.
