Hockey Operations Director Jean-François Damphousse is pleased to welcome for the next Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey season, right winger Vincent Deslauriers, of Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, Quebec, with the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus.

A five-season player in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with Sherbrooke Phoenix and Baie-Comeau Drakkar, Deslauriers, 20, weighs 180 pounds and measures 5 feet 9 inches.

"I have several friends already playing with this team and they spoke to me of the quality of the hockey program and the studies," Deslauriers said. "I have just ended my junior career and I look forward to the next chapter of my hockey career at the university level. I hope it will lead to professional hockey possibilities in Europe or the American Hockey League following my studies."

Deslauriers considers himself a two way player. He will pursue business administration studies. "My aim is to the the Aigles Bleus win many games and a championship,’ added Deslauriers. This is another chapter in my hockey career. I have not seen a lot of university hockey, but I am aware of the high caliber and I should be able to adapt quickly. My trade from Sherbrooke to Baie-Comeau was the turning point in my junior career. I got to play a much more key role in Baie-Comeau and I played a lot more."

He played 270 QMJHL league games, a season and a half with the Drakkar. He scored 23 goals and added buts 22 assists the last season, for 45 points. He added a goal and an assist in four playoff games.

"I am very happy that Vincent Deslauriers will dress with us next season," said Jean-François Damphousse. "He will be able to help our team in the coming seasons. We are continuing our efforts to attract more players in the following weeks."
