Isabelle Morris and Alain Doucet are named athletes of the week

Athletes Isabelle Morris, of Miramichi, and Alain Doucet, of Dieppe, have been chosen as Physiotherapy Sportmed athletes of the week for the period of February 20 to 26, 2017 by the Université de Moncton Athletic Department.

Isabelle Morris had two silver medals around her neck following the Subway Atlantic University Sport Track and Field Championships, held Friday and Saturday at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud. She won one in pentathlon with 3,026 points and a second in shot put with a distance of 11.55m. She registered five personal bests in all five pent events and a best score ever in pentathlon.

She established a Université de Moncton record in pentathlon, named on the AUS second all-star team for pentathlon and shot put and qualified for the U SPORTS Track and Field Championships, in Edmonton, Alberta. She is a kinesiology student.

Alain Doucet was named male MVP of the Subway AUS Track and Field Championship. He won two gold medals, the first in pole vault with a height of 4.11m, establishing new AUS, university and province of New Brunswick records in this discipline. His second came in heptathlon with 4,370 points over the seven events of the competition. He established six personal bests and another overall for heptathlon points. He also has the AUS, university and province records in this event. He is a member of the AUS first all-star team for both events and qualified for the U SPORTS Championships in heptathlon. He is an engineering (electrical) student.
