Université de Moncton women soccer Aigles Bleues coach, Mehyar Zekaroui, is pleased to announce that Julie Gaudet, of Dieppe, and Céleste Gaudet, of Fredericton, will join his team for the 2017-2018 Atlantic University Sport season.

Julie Gaudet, 17, is a grade 12 student at école Mathieu-Martin who plays mid-field. She has been a student at Soccer New Brunswick High Performance Academy for the past three years. She has played with Soccer Dieppe, Codiac Soccer and provincial teams.

"Soccer has been my whole life and my pass time," said the 5’1’’ athlete. "Other than school, I am always on the soccer field training or playing. I am an aggressive mid-field player who enjoys creating play opportunities for my teammates."

Her only sport is soccer and it has enabled her to live a number of exciting life experiences during her 14 years in the sport. "Soccer has provided me with a different world; on the soccer field, I get separated from my everyday life and live in a totally different environment." She added. "When on the field, I focus on my tasks. It is another family, another world. The sport has enabled me to travel, to meet a lot of people and now, to pursue my university studies to become an occupational therapist."

Céleste Gaudet, 17, is a grade 12 student at l’école L’Odyssée and a member of the Soccer Academy, also for the last three seasons. She has six years’ experience in the sport and is looking at a career in criminology-social sciences.

"I really love living in this area since I moved here for the Academy," stated Céleste Gaudet. "I am enjoying the pride in the French language displayed here and also the opportunity to play in the area. My strength on the field is my communication skills. I like to pass the ball forward and push my teammates on the offensive. I really want to progress in the sport and eventually give back to my community by coaching."

The 5 foot 3 inches’ athlete says the sport is an amusement for her and she wants to live the university experience with it as well as meeting new people. She has played for Fredericton Regional Soccer Association, the Academy, Soccer New Brunswick and teams from l’école Sainte-Anne.

Coach Mehyar Zekaroui is happy to see both Gaudet join his squad. "They are part of our first recruiting effort for next season," Zekaroui said. "Both have been dedicated to the sport for many years. We have seen a very good crop of excellent soccer players come out of the academy in the last few years. I also saw them in minor soccer. We are realizing their dream of playing for us and I am happy they have chosen our team."
