Hockey Aigles Bleues will play against Huskies on Thursday
The Huskies finished the regular season with 39 points on 18 wins, 3 losses and 3 overtime losses. The Aigles Bleues were fifth with 20 points (8-12-4). Moncton eliminated the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers in straight games in quarter final action. The Panthers earned a bye in the semi-final. Moncton scored 54 goals and allowed 61 in regular season against 74 and 42 for the Huskies. The Huskies are ranked 3rd nationally by U SPORTS.
"I expect another exciting series," Moncton coach Denis Ross said. "We need to win 1 on 1 battles and play well while 5 against 5. Capitalizing on our scoring chances will be important because they have one of the best goaltenders in the league."
The Huskies won all four encounters between the two teams this season, 14 goals against 8. "There was a one goal difference in three of those games," Ross added. "I do not expect high scoring games in this series. It will mostly be defensive play."
Goaltender Gabrielle Forget will get the nod in front of the Moncton net. "This is another season and we will build on our victory over the Panthers," Forget added. "Team members are very confident they can win this series also."
Ross can count on all his players being available. The second game of the series will go Saturday evening, at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.
