Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (7-12-4=18pts,5th place) play their last regular season game, Friday evening, in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) women’s hockey action.

The Denis Ross coached team, that won its last game, will travel to Fredericton, Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the Grant-Harvey Centre to meet second place St. Thomas University Tommies (16-3-3=35pts), that lost its last game.

The Aigles Bleues have clinched an AUS playoff berth and are guaranteed to finish in fifth position.

‘’We are definitely looking for a victory to launch us in the playoffs,’’ forward Marie-Pier Corriveau said. ‘’We will have to shadow Kelty Apperson, who makes a big difference. We can compete with them, even if they are one of the top teams. We are looking for the energy to send us to the playoffs. A number of lines were modified and the chemistry is close with all players. We will have to shoot on net and take the rebounds. We have a young hard working team that went through its highs and lows this season. We are now heading in the right direction.’’

Coach Ross is hoping his young team will be able to keep shooting on net. His team has lived through dry spells this season. He is confident the last game will serve as a boost for the playoffs, beginning next week.

The Tommies won two of three outings between the two teams this year. Apperson is arriving from the University Games and she and Lauren Henman, of the Tommies, each have 26 points, tied in fifth in league scoring position. Karine Roy and Katryne Villeneuve have 18 points each, in 10th position, for Moncton.
