Hockey Aigles Bleues will host two weekend games

The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (6-11-4=16pts, 5th position) will host two teams this weekend in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey action at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

The Aigles Bleues are qualified for the playoffs and will host the two remaining teams battling for the last spot, with three games to play. The Dalhousie University Tigers (6-14-1=13pts, 6th position), will play on Friday at 7 p.m. and the Mount Allison University Mounties (3-17-1=7pts), on Sunday at 2 p.m. These are the last regular season home games for Moncton.

"Dalhousie recently beat three of the top teams and they are confident. It will be an exciting game", Moncton coach Denis Ross said. "These games will decide the final standings and the matchups for the quarter finals. The Mounties, being close to Moncton, always give us a good game and I don’t expect this one to be different. They have 2 of 3 wins against us. They seem to have our number."

Moncton has lost its last four games, the Tigers their last and the Mounties are winless in their last 12 outings. The Denis Ross team blanked the Tigers 5-0 and won 4-2, twice, in the three games between the teams this season. The Aigles Bleues won 3-2 in overtime and lost 2-1 in two other games to the Mounties.

Sabrina Lebrun will be the goaltender against Dalhousie and Gabrielle Forget will face the Mounties. Moncton has scored 46 goals and allowed 56, in 21 games while Dalhousie is 43 and 63 and Mount Allison, 28 and 81.
