Jean-François Plante and Karine Roy are named athletes of the week
The top scorer of the AUS with 25 goals in 22 games, Jean-François Plante scored five goals, including two winners, in his team’s two weekend wins. Saturday, his third of the game, in overtime, proved to be the winner for his team. All were scored unassisted. His first and second were equalizers. He finished the game at +2 with 7 shots on goal. He also won 3 of 5 face-offs. Friday evening, he collected two more goals, including the winner. They were scored one following another in the second period. His first was scored 6 seconds in the period, a record in regular season for an Aigles Bleus player. His team led 4-0 after his two goals and eventually won 5-3. He had 6 shots on goal and was +4. He is the AUS second top point getter with 25 goals and 9 assists, for 34 points, including 6 power play goals, three hat tricks and four game winners. He is tops in the AUS for shots on goal with 97. He is a kinesiology student.
Karine Roy and her Aigles Bleues played three games during the week. She totalled three goals and an assist. She collected an assist in the loss to Saint Mary’s University Huskies, Thursday. She added a goal in the win against the X-Women, Saturday and two more on Sunday in the loss to the Panthers. She took 11 shots on goal, including 7 on Sunday. She is a master’s in business administration student.
