Université de Moncton men’s hockey Aigles Bleus coach, Serge Bourgeois, is happy that Dieppe forward, Joey Richard, will join his team for the 2017-2018 season.

Joey Richard is presently a forward with the Dieppe Commandos of the Maritime Junior Hockley League. He is 6th in the race for top point getter in the league and the highest point getter of the Eastlink North Division with 38 points (20g-4th in league, 18a-13rd), in 27 games. He has 6 power play and two winning goals.

He played with three Quebec Major Junior Hockey League teams. His first experience was with the Saint John Sea Dogs in 2013-2014 where he played 25 games with 3 goals and 2 assists for 5 points. He was seriously injured and missed most of the season. The Gatineau Olympics picked him up for a year and a half, 2014-2015 and 2015-2106. He played in 84 games with 15 goals and 24 assists for 39 points. The Moncton Wildcats acquired him at Christmas 2015 and he finished the season playing 23 games with 6 goals and 5 assists for 11 points. He played 11 playoff games with Gatineau and three with Moncton.

"Coach Serge Bourgeois showed interest and I always hoped that I could play in my city," Joey Richard (6 feet 2 inches, 215 pounds) said after signing a letter of intent to play with Moncton. "This was an easy decision for me. I look forward to choosing a study program and attend my first courses. I will end my junior career with the Commandos with hopes of wining a championship and having fun. I will then concentrate on my university career."

"We have been looking at Joey Richard for a few years and I believe he will help our team," coach Serge Bourgeois said. "He has the physical and the QMJHL experience we are looking for. I wish him all the best with the Commandos and I look forward to having him at training camp, next September."
