The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues begin regular season play with five games in Atlantic University Sport women’s volleyball play this weekend.

The Aigles Bleues will travel to Halifax for the season beginning tournament with two games Friday and Saturday and one Sunday against the five other teams of the league.

The Monette Boudreau-Carroll troop has been practicing for a number of weeks leading up to this moment. The Aigles Bleues will play against the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds and the Acadia University Axewomen on Friday, against the Dalhousie University Tigers and the Memorial University Sea-Hawks on Saturday and against the Saint Mary’s University Huskies on Sunday.

According to team captain Alyssa Turenne, the team has practiced well over the last weeks. ''We have established our plays during our practices and it is interesting to be able to play all five other teams right off the bat,'' said Turenne ion he fourth season. ''This tournament is an adjustment, but we have few rookies and we know what to expect. Our aim is to win the AUS championship and especially make sure our mental game is good before Christmas. We are excited following two months of practices.''

Coach Monette Boudreau-Carroll said playing five games in three days is exhausting, but that her team is ready. ''This is different than the interlock schedule we had before. We cannot afford to lose sets and games in this opening season tournament,'' Boudreau-Carroll said. ''We need to be ready for every game, in shape and be consistent in all three days. We wish to play the least possible sets so we are still ready for the last games. Our attitude and our physical conditioning is very good.''
