Erica Plourde and Denis Toner are UMoncton Athletes of the Week

Erica Plourde, of Pigeon Hill and Denis Toner, of Saint-André-de-Madawaska, New Brunswick, are the athletes of the week IRM Moncton MRI from November 29 to December 5, 2021, as chosen by the Athletic Department of the Moncton campus of the Université de Moncton.

Forward Erica Plourde won 7 of 11 face-offs during the Aigles Bleues lone women's hockey game. She took 5 shots and was one of the most menacing players in her team's attack for the opposing goalkeeper. Erica Plourde was a tireless worker on the ice throughout the game. She is a first-year student in education-mathematics.

Defenceman Denis Toner took 3 shots in the Aigles Bleus men’s hockey second game of the week. He added a pass during the first game. The rookie was solid defensively by blocking opponent’s shots that didn't make it to the net. He was able to launch the attack in the defensive zone. He is a second-year bachelor of General Business Administration student.
