Cross-country: Aigles in Fredericton on Saturday

The third and final cross-country race before the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) championship will be held Saturday in Fredericton and the two Université de Moncton Aigles teams will compete.

This competition attracts a few university teams from Quebec in addition to those from the Atlantic and serves as a measure for local runners in anticipation of the regional and national championships. New Brunswick and St. Thomas universities will host at Kingswood Golf Club site.

“The competition will include AUS representatives, except Memorial,” said Aigles coach Steve LeBlanc. “Athletes from Quebec’s Laval and Sherbrooke universities will also be present. It will be a high-quality race on a difficult course. The men Aigles Bleus will utilize the same tactic used so effectively in the first two races, namely, to run as a group. The women will look to display a solid team score with a race-ready formation. This is a very important race in our training schedule.”

The women's race begins at noon and will include Aigles Bleues Amélie Cormier, Myriam Cormier, Isabella Lemaire, Hannah Levyssohn and Camille Ruest. Jérémie Gervais, Olivier Jacob Godin, Alain Lavoie, Vincent Leclair, Jonathan Roy, Maxime Savoie and Julien Thibodeau will be on the starting line at 1 pm for the Aigles Bleus men's event.

The AUS championship is scheduled for Saturday, October 30 on the Moncton campus.
