Les Beaux vendredis: a series of hockey training presentations
A new initiative intitled Les Beaux vendredis has just been set up by Judes Vallée and Marc-André Côté, head coaches of the men’s and women’s hockey teams respectively at the Université de Moncton, along with Jean-François Damphousse, former director of hockey operations.
Les Beaux vendredis are a series of presentations offered in French that provide hockey coaches with tools that allow them to develop and deepen their knowledge. They have an opportunity to discuss various current training practices, all for the benefit of their young athletes.
Les Beaux vendredis bring together coaches from all levels, that is, from minor hockey all the way up to the junior and even professional ranks. Discussions are enriching and different subjects are on the menu each week. The discussions touch on how to manage team members and get the best from athletes, as well as on systems of play and individual skills. The group participates in presentations by professional coaches who espouse different ways of thinking and doing things, a process that makes members think. They also discuss various approaches to improve the development of youth in the province.
We hope that Les Beaux vendredis will be back next year with a more hands-on approach where coaches will be able to be on the ice, along with an opportunity to welcome more speakers.
