Mehyar Zekaroui, coach of the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues, announced that Madison Fergusson, Véronique Jalbert and Julie Thériault have confirmed their intention to sit up with his team for Atlantic University Sport’s next women’s soccer season.

Mehyar Zekaroui is delighted with the news. “We’re happy to welcome these three players,” he said. “Madison, Véronique and Julie are all local girls, with different career paths and different qualities. Our team knows that with work and patience we’ll be able to accomplish great things with them.”

“I’m very grateful to be joining the Aigles Bleues next year,” Madison Fergusson stated. “Soccer has always played an important part in my life and this next step will allow me to continue on my way, not just in soccer but also in continuing my education in my first language, French. I’m also taking hold of this opportunity to improve as an athlete. This sport has taught me a lot about discipline and determination and allowed me to develop as a person.”

“I feel privileged to have been selected to join the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues next fall,” explained Véronique Jalbert. “I’ve been playing soccer since I was eight years old, and it became one of my passions right away. Soccer is a way to go beyond myself as a person and an athlete. I love the jolt of adrenaline every time I go on the pitch. I’ve had the privilege of being part of the LJR Patriots women’s soccer team for the last four years and to have helped the team and the coaching staff to win a few championships. It’s very important for me to have an opportunity to study in the city I was born in, close to my family and friends who will be there to support and encourage me. I’m very nerved up and excited to start this challenging new adventure and I’ll be ready and in top shape for the start of the new season.”

“I can hardly wait to join the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues family next fall,” said Julie Thériault. “My passion for soccer started when I was five and has never gone away. I played for my community until I was 12. My family has always encouraged me to pursue my dream of playing university soccer. That’s why when the chance came up to play with the Dieppe club, my parents didn’t hesitate to help me. I travelled between Saint-Ignace and Dover to play with the Dieppe AAA team, and I am still playing with them. I was on the provincial team at every level from U13 to U18. Then in 2019 I left home to join the Rex program at the high-performance academy here in New Brunswick. All these experiences have made me the athlete I am today. I hope that the team will be able to profit from my assets this fall. I’m impatient for the season to start. I’ll do my best to represent the Université de Moncton well.”
