The Honorable Michel Bastarache, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada and former Professor in and Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Université de Moncton, took the opportunity during his recent visit to southeastern New Brunswick to meet the new President and Vice-Chancellor of the Université de Moncton, Dr. Denis Prud’homme.
Justice Bastarache also made a donation to the Evolution Fundraising Campaign to top up the Fonds Michel-Bastarache, an endowment fund worth approximately $47,000 that is used to award an annual prize of $1000 to the student with the best mark on the Language Rights course. Along with the monetary prize, the student receives coaching from the International Observatory on Language Rights to prepare a text written as part of a course assessment for publication on the IOLR’s blog.
