The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus coach, Younes Bouida, announces that three players have informed him they will attend the training camp for the next Atlantic University Sport men’s soccer season.

Georges Musitu, of Ottawa, Philippe Gallant, of Bathurst, and Pascal Sonier, of Tétagouche Nord, have confirmed their intention to be in Moncton for the Aigles Bleus mid-August training.

Georges Musitu, 18, has played for the West Ottawa Soccer Club. He graduated from école secondaire catholique Pierre-Savard. He is a left-winger but can play in any striker position. At 14 years old, Musitu was the top scorer of his Ottawa team with 23 goals in six games and was the fifth scorer of the Ontario league with his U17 team in 2018 with 12 goals in six games. He will study in business administration. “I really appreciated the plan presented by coach Younes Bouida for the Aigles Bleus over the next few years and I aim to contribute to it,” Musito indicated. “I am a very competitive player who wants to help the team win the championship. I can create offensive situations on the field, and I enjoy pushing the team forward.”

Philippe Gallant, 17, is a graduate from école secondaire Népisguit. He has been playing for 12 years and is still very passionate as a winger or midfield player. Gallant played for his high school Rebelles squad this season, and they won the provincial AAA high school championship. He also studied two years in Moncton while attending the Soccer NB High performance program. He was a member of the Chaleur AAA U17 team and played five seasons with Soccer NB provincial U14 to U17 teams. He will study in social work. “I prefer playing as an offensive winger,” said the 5 ′11”and 140 lb player. “My role is to run along the sides of the field, make passes and score. I often change my strategy to outplay my opponents. I have strong technical skills as the ball sticks to my foot. I also have very good ball control. My brother William already plays with the Aigles Bleus, and I want to represent Acadia in soccer. Both my parents have graduated from the Université de Moncton.”

Sonier, 17, is completing his Grade 12 at école secondaire Népisiguit and played with U17 AAA Chaleur and senior teams and provincial U17 and U18 teams. The U17 NB Team did win the bronze medal at the Vaughan Ontario International Tournament last season. He will pursue mechanical engineering studies. He measures 6′1″ and weighs 186 lb. Sonier also played hockey several years and was a member of his high school team this season. “I decided to attend Université de Moncton to study close to my home and because it promotes a very good engineering program and a great soccer team,” said the central defensive player. “I have been playing soccer for seven years and I appreciate that it’s a team sport that also leaves individual creativity. Players have specific roles on the field. I am a determined player that will give his 100 percent in every game and practice. I realize the AUS calibre is high and I hope to see progress in my play and studies.”

Coach Younes Bouida is looking forward to having these three rookies at training camp in August. “I am very impressed by the play of Georges Musitu, who should have an immediate impact on our team; he was solicited by many teams,” Bouida indicated. “I also know both Bathurst area players and I am sure they will help the Aigles Bleus in the coming years. They have an enormous potential.”
