Honorary Doctorates to be Announced Shortly
The Université de Moncton will soon officially announce the names of those who will be receiving an honorary degree at the May 2020 commencement ceremonies.
The decision to confer a doctorate honoris causa is made by the Université de Moncton’s Academic Senate, a representative body consisting of 42 members who represent professors, students and academic administrators on the Université’s three campuses. To be approved, a candidacy must be supported by two thirds of the members present, voting by secret ballot to ensure their independence.
The Université de Moncton wishes to remind the public that an honorary doctorate is a distinction awarded to a person who excels or has excelled in one of the principal fields of human endeavour: scientific, literary, cultural, social, political, economic, administrative, financial, industrial, etc. Their exceptional contribution must be both lasting and profound.
