Véronique Omalosanga and Samuel Farag are Université de Moncton Athletes of the Week
Runners Véronique Omalosanga, of Moncton, and Samuel Farag, of Summerside, were chosen as athletes of the week for the period from February 17 to 23, 2020 by the Université de Moncton Athletic Department.
Véronique Omalosanga had a very good weekend at the annual Atlantic University Sport (AUS) track and field championship, in Saint John. She ended the competition with four medals, three silver (300m and two relays) and one bronze (60m). She established three Université de Moncton records in 300m (40.44s) and both relays 4X200m (24.9s) and 4X400m (58.9s) for her portions of the race. She is a second-year health sciences student.
Samuel Farag had the best time of his team in the AUS 300m, finishing in 13th spot. He was also the anchor runner for both relay teams in the 4X200m and 4X400m. They ended in fourth and fifth position respectively. He recorded times of 23.9s in the 200m and of 53.9s in the 400m relays, the fastest of all Aigles Bleus runners. He is a first-year health sciences student.
