Audrey Berthiaume and Danick Crète are Université de Moncton athletes of the week
Hockey players Audrey Berthiaume, of Saint-Bruno, and Danick Crète, of Rigaud, were chosen as athletes of the week for the period from February 10 to 16, 2020 by the Université de Moncton Athletic Department.
Goaltender Audrey Berthiaume was named Subway player of the game and made 32 saves to register a shutout in the 1-0 win of her Aigles Bleues against the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers in the second game of the Subway AUS quarterfinal series, on Sunday. She offered her team a chance to win and to keep alive the team’s hope to win the series, now even at 1-1. She is a science (nutrition) student.
Defencemen and sometimes forward, Danick Crète, was the player for all situations for his coach Judes Vallée during the two Subway AUS quarterfinal games of the week. The team only had five defencemen for both games. He was on the ice for numerous and important minutes of both games and an important teammate to enable his team to win the series in two straight games. He had an assist on his team’s first and important goal in the first game on Wednesday. He ended the game at +2 with 4 shots on goal and a 3-2 win. On Friday, he added two assists, second and third goals, including a perfect pass to Joey Richard who was sent on a breakaway to score the winning goal in the third period. He was again +2 with 4 shots on goal. He is a bachelor of administration (accounting) student.
