Women’s Hockey: Aigles Bleues Season Could Be Decided Saturday

In an Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey, the fate of the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (5-18-1=11 points, 7th position) could be decided on Saturday as they host Dalhousie University Tigers (6-16-2=14 points, 6th position) at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

Both teams are battling for the sixth and final playoff berth. Dalhousie has a one-point lead over Moncton with a game in hand. The Bleu et Or has three games left in the regular schedule and Dalhousie has four.

“The players are well aware of the importance of this game,” stated Moncton coach Marc-André Côté. “Our season could be decided by that game. I will require a supreme effort from all players. They also need to play their best game of the season. We know the Tigers are a physical team on the ice. We must counter with as much intensity, desire to win and talent as them.”

Moncton lost its last outing while Dalhousie lost its last three. Moncton has scored 31 goals and allowed 70 in 25 games as compared to 41 and 71, respectively, for the Tigers in 24 games. Dalhousie won all three previous encounters between the two clubs this season, including two by shutout (4-0, 3-0 and 4-3).
