In Atlantic University Sport (AUS) women’s volleyball, the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (4-9=8 points, 5th position) play two crucial games this weekend.

The young Monette Boudreau-Carroll coached team will be in Halifax on Friday evening to meet U SPORTS number one ranked team, the Dalhousie University Tigers (13-0=26 points, 1st position). On Sunday, Aigles Bleues will host the Saint Mary’s University Huskies (7-6=14 points, 3rd position), at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud, at 2 p.m.

Moncton has a four-point deficit with the Reds (6-6=12 points), which hold on to fourth and final AUS playoff berth. There are still seven games left for Moncton in the regular season play.

“These are very important games against top teams Saint Mary’s and Dalhousie,” said coach Monette Boudreau-Carroll. “We seem to have a mental block against the Tigers as they have been leading for a long time. We need to work our metal capacity. We can win. We have the talent to play with any team, it all depends on the situation. We must find a way to keep a strong mental game to get out of difficult situations. We worked on that situation this week to forget our last play and forge for the next point. We have tremendous talent, but we lack experience on the court.”

“The team has a very solid game plan; we are going to follow it and work hard,” stated centre player Ivana Urquhart-MIadineo. “The Tigers maybe be ranked first in Canada, but we play them like any another team. We will attack on the plays we are capable. We are still progressing and looking to qualify for the playoffs.”

Christelle Bertin will not participate in both games.
