Women’s Hockey: Aigles Bleues visit Tommies this Wednesday

In Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey, the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (5-16-1=11 points, 7th position) visit the St. Thomas University Tommies (10-11-1=21 points, 5th position) on Wednesday, at 7 p.m., in Fredericton at the Grant-Harvey Centre.

Aigles Bleues have won two out of the three previous encounters between the two clubs this season in regular schedule. Moncton won 3-1 and 1-0 and lost 2-1. The Bleu et Or has six games left in the regular season and is two points behind the Dalhousie University Tigers, in sixth and final playoff berth.

“It is evident we have our eyes on a win,” Moncton coach Marc-André Côté said. “We have good results against them, and it should continue that way. Our offensive needs to create scoring chances, and we must capitalize on those we have, something we are not doing well. Our road record is good, and I expect a 60-minute performance from my players. We must begin strong from the first whistle.”

Moncton has scored 28 goals and allowed 68 this season, in 22 games compared to 42 and 44 for the Tommies. Tommies goaltenders are second and third in the standings with the best goals against average.
