In Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey, the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (9-7-5=23 points, 3rd position) host the top university team of the country, the University of New Brunswick (UNB) Reds (15-4-0-0=30 points, 2nd position), on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

Moncton has lost its last two games while UNB has three wins in a row. The Reds have won their three games against the Aigles Bleus (4-0, 4-2 and 4-1). Saturday’s game is the fourth out of five encounters between the two teams this season.

“This is another challenge for us; they have added a few payers and they have a good team,” said Moncton coach Judes Vallée. “As compared to the other games, we will step on the ice as a team with a winning attitude because it is possible. The Reds play a different game on the road and at home, and with a winning attitude on our part, anything is possible. We gave up four goals in each previous game. We will give the Reds less and score at least three to win. We lost the other games in the first period and played better in the next. We seemed to admire them in the first, and it will be different Saturday.”

For defencemen Justin Guénette, the Bleu et Or will score a first win against the Reds this season. “The team is prepared for this game,” Guénette said. “We are on the right track for a win. The special units will make a big difference, and our power play is getting better. We need to score more often. Defensively, we must play as a unit of five on the ice and counter their attacks. We may not have the most skilled team on the ice, but we’re the one with the best work ethics.”

Édouard Michaud and Wilson Forest will not play this weekend because of injuries.

The game will be broadcast on Bell Community channel One.
