Men’s Hockey: Aigles Bleus in Charlottetown Tuesday
In Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey, the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (9-6-5=23 points, 3rd position) will be in Charlottetown this Tuesday to play against the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers (7-9-3=17 points, 5th position).
Both teams lost their last outing last weekend. “This is a game we cannot afford to lose,” stated Moncton coach, Judes Vallée. “We are seven points behind the second place, and we need to reduce that gap. We always play tight games against the Panthers, but we also play well in their rink. We begin our last 10 games of the season. We did emphasize our man advantage and our zone play in our practices.”
Goaltender Étienne Montpetit has played all 20 games of his team, except for a period this season. “Playing on a Tuesday does not change much for us; it is a game like the others,” he said. “We are still on vacation, so we have time to get ready. The last segment of the schedule is very important for us. We have a good chance of capturing third place and we need to win. We must send the puck in their zone, apply pressure and shoot on goal. The team must keep things simple.”
