Dr. Denis Prud’homme Appointed President and Vice-Chancellor of Université de Moncton
Dr. Denis Prud’homme is appointed president and vice-chancellor of the Université de Moncton. He will assume his role effective July 1, 2020, for a five-year term.
Currently associate vice-president of research and scientific director at the Institut du Savoir Montfort, he has also served as vice-president academic and acting chief executive officer of Hôpital Montfort since 2019. Dr. Prud’homme has more than 30 years’ experience in the academic setting. He holds a Ph.D. in medicine, a certificate in family medicine and a master’s degree in physical activity science.
“I would like to thank the selection advisory committee for its outstanding work,” stated Edith Doucet, president of the Board of Governors. “We are all very pleased to welcome Dr. Prud’homme to the Université de Moncton.”
“I am honoured by the confidence the Université de Moncton has placed in me by appointing me president and vice-chancellor,” said Dr. Prud’homme. “Through its three campuses, the Université de Moncton plays a critical social role by contributing to the vitality of Acadian society and the Francophonie. It is crucially important to build on the institution’s strengths so that it can continue supporting the development and vitality of Francophone communities both throughout New Brunswick and across Canada and the greater Francophonie.”
