Christelle Bertin and Gabriel Vanier Are Université de Moncton Athletes of the Week

Volleyball player Christelle Bertin, of Beresford, and hockey player Gabriel Vanier, of Boisbriand, were chosen as athletes of the week for the period from November 4 to 10, 2019 by the Université de Moncton Athletic Department.

Christelle Bertin decided to join the volleyball Aigles Bleues after a one-year absence. She was a key member of her team, which was able to win its first three games of the season against the Memorial University Sea-Hawks. She was named Subway player of the game on Sunday with impressive statistics in a 3-2 win. Moncton was behind 2-0 and won the next three sets for the win. She saw progression in her statistics in all three games with totals of 34 kills, 78 digs and 114 attacks in three games. She is an engineering (mechanical) student.

Forward Gabriel Vanier played his first two regular-season games after missing two months because of a hand injury. He was a key player in both games as the Aigles Bleus won two impressive games. He took six shots on goal, scored twice, including the winner and the assurance, and was +2 in cumulative statistics of both games. He was named Subway player of the game on Saturday. He is an administration (finances) student.
