The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (3-4-3=9pts, 5th position) host the Acadia University Axemen (9-1-0=18 points, 1st position) on Friday and the Saint Mary’s University Huskies (7-3-0=14 points, 3rd position) on Saturday at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey games.

Moncton coach Judes Vallée is aware the task at hand will not be easy against two higher classified teams. “We are keeping a positive mind; we have nine points out of a possibility of 20,” Vallée said. “We did lose a few games because of our play, but we are still very much in competition. Teams are very close to one another behind and in front of us. We need to look forward and bring more offensive punch to our games. These will be two very good games. We are the only team to have won against Acadia this season, and Saint Mary’s has a very hard-working team. We will also have the players-parents evening on Saturday, and we aim to give them a good show. We know the things we have to work on. We need to create more scoring opportunities offensively and play with vigour. Players must be more aggressive in front of the opposing net and reduce the number of shots on goal against us. The work of our special units needs to improve.”

Defencemen Justin Guénette is confident his team will turn out a very good performance this weekend following two straight losses. “We did emphasize our penalty kill and power play this week in practice,” he indicated. “We are the only team to have won over Acadia, and we have confidence we will get two more points. We must work harder and win the one-on-one battles. We are one of the most penalized team in the league, and we must improve on that and play more with more discipline on the ice.”

Aigles Bleus have played one third of their regular schedule and are still in a good position to qualify for the playoffs.
