Forty-nine Student Athletes Honoured for U SPORTS academic achievements

The Université de Moncton Athletics Department commended the 49 student athletes that were named to the U SPORTS honour roll for their academic achievements. The student athletes maintained an academic average of 3.7 or more during the 2018-2019 season.

Interim President and Vice-Chancellor, Jacques Pau Couturier, commended them for their commitment and achievements in academic and sports sectors. “Forty-nine student athletes from Université de Moncton have excelled in both their sport and studies at the national level last season,” Mr. Couturier said. “We are very proud of our athletes. We congratulate them. It is a pleasure to honour them today.”

Administration and Human Resources Vice-President, Edgar Robichaud, and Academic and Research Vice-President, Gilles C. Roy, also valued the merits of the students for their demanding work, both academically and in sports. Athletic Director, Marc Boudreau, offered his congratulations to the students and acknowledged the many sacrifices needed to achieve in both sectors.

The 49 student athletes are:

Track and field: Jean-Luc Bastarache, Truro; Alain Doucet and Joëlle Léger, Dieppe; Karen Farag, Summerside; Jessika Lepage, Atholville; and Lisa Richard, Samuel Robichaud and Emmanuel Zangio, Moncton.

Cross-country: Nassim Bousmaha, Algeria; Myriam Cyr, Wellington; December Sampson, Maitland; Carol-Ann MacDonald, Irishtown; Pascale Richard, Rogersville; Simon Delorme, Cowansville; Vincent Leclair, Balmoral; and Jean-Raphaël Vinay, Villar d’Arène.

Women’s hockey: Sarah-Ève Mailhot, Repentigny; Janie Poitras, Saint-André; Audrey Berthiaume, Saint-Bruno; Katherine Dubuc, Victoriaville; Émilie Lalancette, St Andrews West; Samantha McLaughlin, Moncton; and Isadora Quirion, Saint-Gédéon-de-Beauce.

Men’s hockey: Victor Beaulac, Saint-Hyacinthe; Danick Emond, Terrebonne; Marc-Anthony Therrien, Bécancour; Alexi Thibaudeau, Gatineau; Joey Richard, Dieppe; Jason Rioux, Saint-Jean-de-Dieu; and Marc Gallie, de Shediac.

Women’s soccer: Natalie Fleming, Moncton; Marilou Larocque, Sainte-Marie–Saint-Raphaël; Julie Gaudet, Dieppe; Catherine Dupuis, St-Mathias-sur-Richelieu; Céleste Gaudet and Sarah Thomas, Fredericton; Katrine LeBlanc, Saint-Hubert; Emilie Naugle, Shediac; and Chelsea Burnham, Saint John.

Men’s soccer: Alex Laperrière, Québec; Thomas Maillet and Jean-Michel Dako, Moncton; and Tarik Nait Ajjou and André LeBlanc, Dieppe.

Women’s volleyball: Télia Gaudet, Aldouane; Joanie Arsenault, Tracadie; Maude Beaudin, Allardville; Arianne Racine, Lacolle; and Tamika Bergeron, Kedgwick.

Many people were present for the ceremony held at the bar Le Coude of the Moncton campus.
