Luc Michaud Joins Hockey Aigles Bleus

Athletic director Marc Boudreau has revealed that Luc Michaud has accepted the position of hockey operations director with the Université de Moncton hockey Aigles Bleus for the 2019-2020 season.

Michaud is well known in the local hockey circles and looks after recruitment for the Rimouski Oceanic of the Québec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), since 2018. He held similar roles with the Sherbrooke Pheonix, the Chicoutimi Saguenéens and the QMJHL central scouting. He played two seasons with the Université de Moncton hockey team, in 1985-1986 and 1986-1987. He also has very good knowledge as a sports administrator.

“I am delighted that Luc Michaud has accepted to take on these responsibilities,” said Marc Boudreau. “He is a nice addition to our head coach, Judes Vallée. He is knowledgeable in hockey and has many contacts. We will also put emphasis on the recruitment side with agreements with two people, one in the Atlantic Provinces and the other in Québec. Former pro player and assistant coach, Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau, will also get added responsibilities in his second year with the team.”

Étienne Rouleau will look after recruitment in the Atlantic Provinces while a yet unnamed person will have responsibilities in Québec. Former pro goaltender and former Aigle Bleu, Adrien Lemay, is the new goaltender coach for the team. Lemay played four seasons with the Aigles Bleus. He also runs his own goaltender school and is an assistant coach with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the QMJHL. Ricky Jacob and Frédérick Roy remain with the team as assistant coaches with Judes Vallée, as head coach.

“We have distributed a number of tasks amongst a number of experienced local hockey people for the next season,” added Marc Boudreau. “This will allow us a chance to receive the Athletic department’s Strategic Plan in the next month and then decide which direction to take for the following seasons.”
