More Than 900 Diplomas and Certificates Awarded by the Université de Moncton in 2018-2019

The Université de Moncton awarded 934 new diplomas and certificates at its three campuses during the 2018–2019 academic year.

Some 500 students took part in the graduation ceremony held on Saturday, May 25, on the Moncton campus in the Vance-Toner Stadium of the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud.

Omer Chouinard was named Professor Emeritus in Environment, while Jean-Guy Ouellette was named Professor Emeritus in Counselling.

The Award of Excellence in Mentoring of the Université de Moncton was presented to Jean Saint-Aubin, professor at the School of Psychology. This award is offered to a professor who has shown excellence over a period of years in terms of commitment to student learning through the quality of his or her mentoring.

Vivi Koffi, professor of administration and head of the Department of Administration, was the recipient of the Award of Excellence in Teaching. This distinction is bestowed annually by the Université de Moncton upon a faculty member at one of the three campuses who has demonstrated excellence in teaching performance.

The Governor General’s Gold Medal was awarded to Fréderick Dufour, who completed the Master of Arts (History) program with a grade point average (GPA) of 4.3. The Silver Medal was presented to Gilles Fougère, who completed the Bachelor of Kinesiology Science program with a GPA of 4.29.

The Université de Moncton also recognized the outstanding involvement of four new graduates by awarding them the Ordre du mérite Bleu et Or. This student distinction, the institution’s most prestigious, is offered to graduates with an outstanding record of academic performance and extracurricular leadership. This year’s recipients were Isabelle Blais, graduating from the Bachelor of Arts (Major in Psychology) program; Marc-André Collin, Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting); Daniel Saucier, Master of Science (Biochemistry); and Alex Thériault, Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting) cooperative program.

Mohamed Bouya Ely Vall, originally from Mauritania and graduating from the Bachelor of Business Administration (International Management) program, delivered the valedictory address on behalf of his peers.

The graduation ceremony on the Shippagan campus took place on May 17, while the ceremony on the Edmundston campus was held on May 18.
